REFLECTIVE THURSDAY WITH DISNEY

REFLECTIVE THURSDAY WITH DISNEY
Today was REFLECTIVE THURSDAY and it reflected (pun intended) in the songs Tosyn played, which were, well, a lil bit cooler than usual. After AREAAAAA! where we had people from all over Lagos and Ogun states representing different schools, some, high schools e.g. St. Finbarrs College and some, representing higher institutions e.g. LASU, Ikorodu campus. The yarn-free zone today was themed FAIRYTALE CLASSICS and Tosyn played Beauty & the beast from the animated movie with the same title and she also played “poor unfortunate soul “ and “under the sea”, both from Little Mermaid. Hmmh, nostalgia

We later went ONLINE REALTIME, here, listeners are supposed to write on our facebook wall, for members of the group, or send in texts to let us know what you’re doing online orjust whats happening online generally. A listener sent in a text saying he had forgotten that today was his birthday and only remembered when he heard the date on radio. How does that happen?! I mean nobody called him? Then there was a gist from OMG about Entourage, involving something they said on the show about Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogers, I gather Seth was furious that they said someone like him couldn’t have gotten a girl like Katherine in real life. Seth no vex now, monkey no fine, but im mama like am

THE WEATHER REPORT
Its a partly cloudy day with scattered thunderstorms in parts of Lagos. The sun rose at 6:40am and will set at 7:05pm. Maximum temperature is 31 degree Celsius, minimum temperature and overnight low is 23 degree Celsius.
Tosyn rhymed here today; "whether the weather is hot or whether the weather is cold, no matter the weather, we'll weather the weather whether we like it or not" she try abi? oya VIP kids clap 4 tosyn...heeeeeeeeeeeee

Then we went on to PROVERBS LANE, where you had to call, give a proverb in your language and translate to english, funny enough, many of the proverbs given had english counterparts like, “vanity upon vanity, all is vanity” and “pride goes before a fall”. On the SING A STORY segment today, love was really in the air, many ladies sang songs like D’banj’s “fall in love” for their guys and many guys also sang different love songs for current and soon-to-be girlfriends. A man sang P-squares “No one like you” for his wife (how romantic) for taking him as he is. Some renditions were really nice, while some made me almost turn off the radio (lol) but its the spirit behind the song that really matters not the song itself, abi?

Thats all for today. See you tomorrow

CELEBRITY Wednesday with Lara George

AREAAAAA! today saw us receiving calls and texts from ketu, ikorodu, gbagada, akute, ogba, agege, Lagos island, surulere, palmgrove, ojodu, falomo, ikeja, oshodi and a number of other places, with people making their wives, fathers, brothers, siblings, (a lot of) girlfriends and mothers their celebrities. Someone even made Gov. Fashola a celebrity, while someone else picked Tosyn and another person picked his gas station attendant.

CELEBRITIES IN THE HOUSE
We had a foursome in the house today; four members of the project fame academy that are presently on probation, Mike, David, Jennifer and Tari. They spoke about the academy, what they had gained and what they and what they think they did wrong to warrant being on probation. Mike, who performed Craig David’s “Walking Away” said he performed, he didn’t sing that he needs to learn to sing and merge them together, or something like that, I really didn’t understand the point he was trying to make cos I didn’t get how you could perform and not sing, you know, or is it just me? Anyways, David said when he got into the house; he discovered that you can be able to sing without knowing music, Tari, who performed Beyoncé’s “if I were a boy” said she knew that she overdid it, I like that, this girl is definitely not in denial, she said because she was nervous, she was really trying to act like a boy, but the song was supposed to be nostalgic and Jennifer, who performed a song that needed a lot of oomph(I didn’t get the title), when asked where she kept the energy said that at the beginning of the song, she was nervous but towards the middle and the end, she enjoyed herself, I’m just wondering, “girl, is it enjoying yourself that guarantees you a place in the academy?, in lara-speak, does enjoying yourself get your CD in the market? just a word of advice, maybe next time, try to focus more on the audience and judges enjoying you”. Listeners called in to speak with them and also sent in texts, on the whole, they got much love, much love! Thanks guys.

We also had Lara George in the studio, if you see her picture and here her voice, and in your mind, you’re thinking, this lady must be so docile, so placid, so gentle, pleeeeeasee, allow me to disenchant you; Omolara George was able to hold her own with Tosyn, and trust me that is not a very easy feat, she is really funny and laughs a lot and she does a pretty good “Jenifa” impersonation. Generally, I loved her spirit. She talked about her new album, on which she has a track featuring Lord of Ajasa of the “le fenu so” fame, titled “Run with You”; she said the title came about because of her walk or rather “run” with God. She also says the video for that particular track has been shot and will be out next week. She also did us the honours of reading the weather report and she did a great job. She was quite a while in the studio, about an hour, which gave ample time to receive lots of calls and texts and she left some minutes to the end of the show. Thanks Lara.

PROVERBS
Lara also left us with a Yoruba proverb “bó șe ń șe onídìrí k ló șe ń șe onígbàjám” which means, according to Lara, “as its doing me is not how its doing you”.

How-to Show-MONEY! MONEY!! MONEY!!!

Tuesday, 28th July, 2009

The How-to show was back on air today, (that is one show that makes me look forward to Tuesdays, it’s my favourite part of AREAAAAA! on Tuesdays) with Miss Moneybags, whose voice sounded uncannily like Tosyn’s, maybe shes her twin sister, ehn? as our presenter, teaching us “How to make enemies with your money “ and as usual, left us more confused than convinced.

Town hall AREAAAAA! this Tuesday was as dynamic as ever, with Tosyn viciously enforcing the “password”, consequently, today, she did not take any call if the caller did not shout AREAAAAA! first. As it happened last week, today again, every single caller mentioned PHCN, excepting maybe 1 or 2 people, but sha the majority mentioned PHCN. But really except a person is blind, lame and deaf, you cannot possibly say that it is not obvious that our power sector is at the tail end of its collapse process, and we’re still waiting for the promised state of emergency to be declared, after almost three years?! Na wa o. A lot of people also complained about the bad roads and traffic holdups in their areas.

On the PUBLIC FORUM, we discussed “Begging; is it good to give alms on the street or is it more advisable to give to an organized charity” some people said that they have to give alms as it is a commandment in their religion, a lady said she would never give alms again in her life because of an experience she had where she was almost robbed in traffic because she wanted to give alms to a beggar, a lot of people felt it is dangerous to give to beggars on the street, what with ritual killers and whatnots, and many others disagreed, some felt it should be organized, others felt giving doesn’t have to be structured. Personally, I give people when I feel like giving and they look like they need it, there was this young man that came begging me for money in Yaba one day, he didn’t look hungry, had no obvious disabilities and spoke fluent English, I didn’t give him any money o, though he begged me for a very long time, I just couldn’t justify giving him a dime. I had a problem with the fact that this was a young strapping Nigerian man, he couldn’t be more than 20, and the only thing he could find to do was beg! and he was doing it without any shame, I mean, none at all, in fact, he even seemed delighted to be begging. I know Nigerian men can be very egoistic and illustrious, this guy was the complete opposite and I just couldn’t stand it.

THE WEATHER REPORT
The sun rose at 6:40am and will set at 7:05pm. Early morning rains in parts of Lagos will give way to a partly cloudy day and scattered thunderstorms. Maximum temperature is 29 degree Celsius, minimum temperature and overnight low is 22 degree Celsius. It’s going to be a very cold day especially because of the wind chill.

THE HOW TO SHOW with Miss MoneybagsMiss Moneybags, who read the texts and received calls from her gold plated blackberry which she bought when she travelled last week (cough), gave us the following tips on how to make enemies with your money:
• Plan a huge outing for your friends, place a large order of food and drinks for yourself and eat it all alone
• While your friend is celebrating their ”new” tokunbo car, pick up your phone and order the latest and most expensive version of that same car to add to your fleet.
• Offer to pay 50 million naira for a 5 million naira car
• Blare loud music, splash water on people with your new sports car
• Always ask people to bow down and adore you anytime they need something from you
• Walk into a club order bottles of champagne, in this recession period, pop them and pour them all over yourself
• Go for an outing in a convoy about 7 cars, if anyone asks for a ride, say theres no space, while the cars are empty
• Snatch someone’s wife or girlfriend
• At an event with a friend who’s complaining about no being able to pay bills, bring out the exact amount he needs and spray it all on the dance floor
• Tell your friend who stuck by you when you were broke that levels have changed o, you have to drop some excess baggage i.e. him/her

Thats it for today. See you tomorrow

Monday, 27th July, 2009

TODAAAY in the AREAAAAA! studio was “Vervacious” as per Energetic Monday now! As usual listeners could barely wait for the phones to be turned on before they started calling and texting from every nook and cranny of Lagos and Ogun states, there were callers and texters from ketu, Abule-Egba, Ikotun, Ilisan-remo, Fagba, Ogba and quite a number of people from Ikorodu. A “peculiar” texter from Abule-egba described the weather in his area as (Quote)“...remarkable, reliable, unbeatable, palatable...” (Unquote), hmmh, this bros is doing show-off for us with his dexterity in words abi?

On BACK TO THE FUTURE, listeners had to call in, pretend they were talking to their grandchildren and try to explain some integral parts of our childhood that are now extinct to them. Callers came up with the following; the ice water tutu ree phenomenon (I don’t think that is extinct sha, there are still quite a number of “ice water tutu” hawkers in some areas), the fact that if a thief is caught/seen, theres no hope for him because the moment somebody shouts “ole, ole” the whole street takes up the cry until the thief is caught, and more often than not, lynched, (I can just imagine my grandchild saying “Grandma, were you savages then?” and of course I’ll say, “I wasn’t, some were”...by the way I don’t approve of lynching, I think its very vulgar and barbaric), a listener remembered the “bolekaja”(get-down-lets-fight) buses plying (in this case) the Abeokuta-Lagos route and lots more

EXCERPTS OF TOP 9 MOMENTS WITH ARAMYDE
• In Katsina, an inspector has been demoted to sergeant while a corporal has been dismissed for allegedly extorting N 300,000 from a student. (Really? In Nigeria? Thank God o)
• MJ: 5.5 million dollars was recovered from one of MJ’s former financial advisers by the managers of his estate and they also said his estate is solvent o, MJ is, or rather was not broke. They are also requesting for permission from the court to give his mum and children some sort of upkeep.
• Facebook: Bill Gates has reportedly gotten over 10,000 friend requests, “so therefore”, he’s off facebook, I guess he was scared. Someone say cyberstal... okay I didn’t really mean that, it was a slip of keys.
• A video on YouTube showing a couple who danced to Chris Brown’s (that guy!) “Forever” at their wedding before taking their wedding vows has scored a record 1.4 million hits! In Tosyns words “Are we that jobless?!” I didn’t say it o, Tosyn did.
• North Korea/USA war of words; Hilary Clinton said the North Koreans are like little children and unruly teenagers who are seeking and demanding attention and the North Koreans replied that Hilary looks like a primary school girl or a pensioner going shopping. LWKM abeg, is it that this people don’t have anything more important to do other than yabbing each other, you know, something really important like AN ECONOM IC RECESSION!! Puhleeze...
• Mourinho declares that he is satisfied with the balance of his squad. Talking about the Ibrahamovic/Eto’o swap says “only a stupid coach will be happy to lose Ibrahamovic but only a stupid coach will not be happy to have Eto’o”. Chikena
• “treat people as if they were what they ought to be and help them to become what they are capable of being”

Then Tosyn rounded off with a question from the 1st CORA Hip-hop conference that took place on Sunday, it’s actually been a very big issue lately, the question was “Who decides the quality of music? Musicians, Media, Producers, Consumers, etc? Some people said producers, some said musicians, some others said the consumers, while some other people said nobody is to blame, all in all, nobody “won” everybody had different opinions.

That’s it for today. See you tomorrow

Tuesday, 21st July, 2009

AREEEAAAAAAA! today was HOT! like fire with Versus Tuesday where we started by raising the heat level in the studio with a showdown between D’Banj, MI and Terry da rapman, all singing one form of “I’m hot” or the other. I know it’s been said like a zillion times already, but lemme just make it a zillion + 1, MI is HOT!!!! I mean the guy is so goooood. We also had Danny Young vs. Illbliss singing side of your mouth, Wale vs Wale Thompson, Akon with “Rush” vs. Dante with “Rush Rush” and lots more.

Area O singing joint has been moved to Friday, while we now have townhall area on Tuesdays. On townhall today, we had callers from Egbeda, Isheri, Sagamu, Ikorodu, third mainland bridge, Ibafo, Ketu, Sango-ota, Mile 2 and many other places, we had quite a number of people calling in on their way to work; some people from areas like abule-egba, agege, ilupeju and bariga said it was raining in their areas. Omowunmi sent in a message all the way from NYSC camp in Maiduguri, to say she misses AREEEAAAAA! Awwwww... Practically everybody complained about PHCN, but some cases were pretty pathetic, like Ibafo and Iju, a caller from Ibafo said they haven’t had light for the past 200 years! I’m sure he was just exaggerating sha but it seems they really haven’t had electricity for months! Mehn... In all things give thanks, I thank God for our 3 hours per 2 days light o , a caller from Iju said they had not had electricity in 3 months!, and every single person that made a complaint mentioned the bad roads, I mean everybody! Anyway, on a lighter note, a listener sent in a text saying that the traffic on Ikorodu road was “an imbecile”,lol, maybe his fingers slipped on the keypad, abi?

Public forum today was a continuation of last week’s discussion on the security issue, but today we were looking at it with specific reference to transport. Lots of people called in with comments and recommendations but atypically, considering how it usually is when we discuss security issues in Nigeria, nobody called in with a personal experience. A caller suggested regular patrols by the police like they do abroad, but I wonder how that can work with our bad roads and traffic holdups, another caller thought about this (I guess) and said that the bad roads should be repaired. Someone else suggested equipping retired people with handcuffs and some other things excluding ammunition, so that they might still be useful to the society even after retirement, all in all it was a very constructive session.

Top 9 moments with Aramyde
• Fans who bought MJ’s London tour concert tickets may not be at a complete loss, seems they might be given a chance to see the rehearsal footage. The rehearsal footage is pretty hot right now with Paramount, Universal, 20th Century Fox and Sony bidding for it. Sony is said to be willing to pay up to a whopping 50 million dollars.
• MJ’s dad seems to be following in his daughters footsteps, quite ironically. He says that foul play is involved in MJ’s death and that the doctor should be investigated.
• Finally! Chris brown has publicly apologized to Rihanna over his alleged abuse, he says he would have done this a long time ago, but he was advised against it by his lawyers.
• The doctor who tried to revive Jimi Hendrix the day he died has said that it is plausible that he was murdered because of the volume of wine in his hair, lungs and on his shirt, after a man working for the band when Jimi was alive alleged that the gang broke into his hotel room, forced sleeping pills down his throat and forced wine on him.
• In Germany, a 46-year old man was nabbed with over a thousand pairs of underwear. He was caught while trying to steal three more pairs. If he was caught in Nigeri, he might have been lynched for being a “ritualist”. I think he needs to spend some quality time in Aro .
• In a new research carried out on fruitflies and rats, it has been discovered that eating less extends but lowers your immunity.
• Sir Alex Ferguson is supporting Wayne Rooney despite his reaction to an opponent during a recent math where he swiped at him. Fergie says he reacted because the guy hit him on his stitched (and I guess sore) head
• “Correction does much, but encouragement does more”

Yeye Durojaye Arogundade was the guest in the entrepreneurial section today. Yeye is a single mother of one who used to work in broadcasting before leaving to start her own business, she is presently involved in retailing but used to work in graphics. She advises upcoming entrepreneurs to “be yourself, find your own place, don’t fit into the mould that other people have built for you”. She also says “hang in there, it’s going to be rough and it will get rougher, it doesn’t get easier so quick. Just deal with it don’t let external things get to you” .

There will be rain and scattered thunderstorms in some parts of Lagos. The sun rose at 6:39am this morning and will set at 7:06pm. Maximum temperature is 31 degree Celsius while minimum temperature is 22 degree Celsius.

The How to show with chucky today was as wacky as always with “How to make your friends want to jump off the third mainland bridge". She gave us the following tips
• Every conversation must be about you, on no account should you give them the chance to be heard except when you pause to ask what they think about your own issues. And if they mistakenly try to talk about themselves during that pause, laugh as hard as you can.
• Make sure you top everything they tell you with a greater experience of your own just to show that you have it better
• Let every word that comes out of your mouth be a complaint about anything from the weather to the size of their head
• Always borrow stuff from them and never return it.And lots more...

See you tomorrow.Ciao

A celebrity Ashionye Wednesday!

The program kicked off at 6:00am {as usual} with loads of Naija music, right before Area Mama herself stepped in to set the ball rolling. Lots of calls came in, with people from different parts of the city stating how the traffic was in their different geographic locations. Calls and sms from Agege, Ago-Iwoye, Ikorodu, Ejigbo, Agbado and Abule-Egba indicated that the traffic in those areas were bumper to bumper. The traffic in places like Ikeja, Sagamu, Berger, Alagbole and Ogba was reported to have been free around that time.
At exactly 8:0am, there was a chance to win 4 tickets to the gala night of MTN Project Fame show coming up later this year. The opening gala night is to allow the 18 selected contestants perform and reveal 15 contestants with lovely voices and eliminate the other 3. The price for the tickets was naming the 3 runner-ups and the winner of last year’s edition of the show. Trust Nigerians- 5 minutes later, there were 4 winners who had sent in the answers in time.
Next, it was time for the divas on Venus Shell. Up for discussion today were the plenty things ladies like to indulge in that are not very popular with the gender. Alongside this were the other things ladies should be gladly into but aren’t the least bit interested in. Several calls and texts came in with stunning revelations into the hideous things ladies indulge in. Some ladies confess to having distaste for washing plates and clothes.. Some don’t like to cook. Yet, another set of ladies confessed that they would rather ride motor bikes, drive big trucks, watch/play football and even climb, rather than do other girly stuff. Queer, isn’t it?
Aramide came in during the Top 9 Moment with news on the swap in place of the Minister of Defence and the Minister of Interior. More news came in about Micheal Jacksons final resting place- the lie told by Latoya, his sister about him having been murdered; Charles Taylor’s defence against all the counts against him.
Since it is celebrity Wednesday, there had to be a celebrity. The celeb for today was no other person than the multi-talented Ashionye- the singer, dancer, designer and actress. The amiable Ashionye Michelle stepped into the studio stepped into the studio and did nothing to disappoint her numerous fans. She disclosed that latest album is simply the bomb! She also disclosed that has 2 movies on the way. To cap it all, she declared her strong believe in Nigerian women, especially those in the Entertainment industry.
At about 10:55, Tosyn signed out with one of Ashionye’s tracks while Ashionye was giggling at the background.

MIDNIGHT CREW....y'all heard!!

AAARRREEEAAA!!!
Hello everyone! Wow, Its mid-week already, two days ago it was the beginning, two days from now it'll be the weekend. As is usual,we had the celebrity area today...we had so much love from parents to kids, kids to parents, parents to themselves, lover to lover and even one person that was in love with the whole world.

MEN FREE ZONE...how do we balance our duties as wife, girlfriend, career woman, mother etc.
Majority of the ladies said it was possible (hmmm spirit of the Nigerian?). Others said one role had to suffer for you to be effective at others. While Yinka i would say, made a salient point in that it was possible with the understanding of those around you because the support will ease the stress.

Excerpts of TOP 9 MOMENTS with aramide
Michael Jackson's mum is no longer in charge of his estate a judge has ruled that it will be administered by his long time lawyer and his music executive.

The MJ memorial yesterday was particularly touching. It was a sombre atmosphere with performances and speeches from Rev. Al Shrapton, Brooke Shields, Usher, Jeniffer Hudson, Smokie Robison etc. The highlight was when his daughter Paris eulogised her father. What a night it was!

The 6th offering of Harry Potter opened yesterday in London with the stars of the movie and hundreds of fans gathered. Harry Potter's cast and crew will wore white ribbons on their wrists at the movie's world premiere as a mark of respect to murdered actor Rob Knox who was a part of the movie's crew.

A teacher has beaten a student to death with a cane in Ghana. The autopsy revealed that the little girl died from serious head injuries after recieving beatings on her head, back and spinal cord.

A woman whose wallet was lost 27years ago has just recovered it. It was found in the crust of a rotten cherry tree.

Usain Bolt has run the 4th fastest time in history in the 200metres sprint. It means he is back to form aeter winning in record times, the 100 and 200 metres gold medals a year ago in the last olympics.

We had MIDNIGHT CREW in the house today, there was so much love and respesct from their fans. They tend to command that. Only two of them made it to the studio as the other two were held up with other business.
They've been together for 9 years all the way from YABATECH and their name is inspired by being the ones who sing you out of your pain or trouble even in the midnight of your life.

They gave us two proverbs as TOSYN had to squeeze it out a day early before proverbs lane tomorrow.
"there can't be two bosses at the helm at the same time"

"if goat say im get sense, wan chop old mama yam, im go chop cain
first"

They said standing out as gospel musicians hasn't been easy but if you stay strong, God will come through for you because he is not a liar. When they started they didn't recieve support from their church because they thought they were too secular so they had to look at help from family and friends. But today? Different story.

They have been on tour so much, which isn't really regular with Nigerian artistes. Congratulations to them. They have toured the UK, Europe, USA at Washington DC with fans coming all the way from Philadelphia, Virginia, etc with autograph and photo sessions etc.

.........HOW TO

We were on to our Indian themed AREA O today and yes finally the inspiration behind the AREA O song was revealed today.
This morning's wet conditions will give way to a warmer day but still with scattered thunderstorms and rain in various parts of Lagos. On PUBLIC FORUM, we went back and forth on the outcry over Obama’s intended visit to Ghana as the first African country he will be visiting.
This is one issue that has reverberated down the length and breath of this country maybe because of our position as the largest black country but as it is with constructive folk, Obama chose reason rather than sensationalism so he went for the nation that had established a system of accountability and a model of leadership the trumps all the big boys around the continent.
Majority of the callers agreed with Obama's decision and were of the opinion that it is a big deal but that we needed to put our house in order to get any respect in the comity of nations.

Excerpts from TOP 9 MOMENTS…
A teenager in New Zealand has attempted to auction her mother’s nude photos online because the mum asked her to clean out the garage. Man! no respect? But what do we expect from the kid when the mum had nude photos in the house to the knowledge of the child?

“Success is never final, failure is never fatal, hope is all that matters”

When leaving hide lots of the properties of your host as souvenirs

Come at odd hours and snore loudly when sleeping

Break all breakables without being sorry

Go through all the rooms in the house and when leaving, wear their best clothes

On MEMORY LANE we explored the various hair styles that rocked back in the day. From those we were forced to put on to those we used to catch the girls or attract the guys…it was fun as usual trekking back into the past. Below are the styles we came up with…

• Criss cross
• Punk
• Tyson with centre or side parting
• Layers
• Carl Lewis
• Grace Jones
• Gorimakpa
• Koso
• Tie-tie
• Ray parker someone even mentioned junior ray parker
• Jerry curl
• Soul-soul
• Patra
• Net waves
• Bob Marley
• Round about
• June 12
• Anita baker
• Kolese
• Police cap
• Simbi
• Chooku and Joroba (virtually all the ladies didn’t like this style coupled with the fact that your head had to be between the laps of the iya, parents thought it was cool though)

What’s with Nigerians naming hair styles after celebrities? The practice hasn't even changed till today.

TOP 9 MOMENTS excerpts…
A loans company in Latvia is responding to the huge effect of the economic meltdown by offering loans to customers for their souls as co-lateral. When asked what will happen if people default on payments, he said they will loose their souls! Is he appealing to their conscience or its voodoo?

Some Africans think they have a bone to crack with Obama over his choice to visit Ghana first before any other country like Kenya, South Africa or Nigeria but he has replied them by claiming the choice came from their ability to hold elections and successfully transfer power. WISE DECISION!

The wife of the proposed head of M16 might have put her husband’s career in jeopardy when it was discovered that she put up pictures of her family and their flat including intimate pictures on face book. Raising questions over what if she gets access to secret information when he takes over.

Aramide ended with another of her stunners:

"Too many people over value what they are not and under-value what they are"

On the WEEKEND REVIEW, we had a lot of fun including the following:
R.Kelly concert
Bouqui's album launch
Mike Aremu's concert
Battle of the year finals at UNILAG.

We took it to another level today by trying to go back in time to see if there was anything we would have done differently. It was a lot.
If God gave us the opportunity, everybody would change their life but the fun of life is that the decisions of today become the victories or battles of tomorrow. Where is life’s fun if there’s nothing to fight for?

Have a great week ahead.

TOP 9 MOMENTS
Michael Jackson’s family (told you we should leave space for an MJ news everyday) has said that due to the huge influx of fans during his funeral proceedings, they have notified the LA police and highway patrol. Complaints by the public are being generated due to questions over who is taking the burden of the expenses for the huge burial ceremony being planned. The state or the family considering the credit crunch situated He is MJ, a world citizen.

UEFA have approved guidelines to enable officials abandon matches when racist abuses are going on during a match. As a first step, the referee stops the game and warns the supporters; if it does no good he then stops the match for 5 - 10minutes depending on his assessment; as a last resort he can then abandon the match.

It isn’t new: Venus and Serena are playing each other again in this year’s Wimbledon finals.

A man in charge of a center for counseling sexually abused people has allowed his pedophile friend assault a boy put in his care. Pervert counseling against perverts? The devil can’t bind itself now.

Essence magazine's festival for the celebration of black music and culture will provide comfort for artiste’s and fans after Michael Jackson’s death. Lionel Richie, godfather to one of MJ’s kids says it will give them a chance to regroup.

One of Germany’s richest women has lost 5.85million pounds to her husband after they divorced. I was reported that they had no prenuptial arrangement so the man was entitled to walk out with so much. He was awarded the cash by the court. Their laws just fascinate me; it could go south for the man or the woman depending on who was richer. Nigeria? Let’s not go there!

“If hard work was such a wonderful thing the rich would have kept it all to themselves”

Excerpts of TOP 9 MOMENTS...
Speculations arising from the costume Miriah Carey wore for her new single, obsessed has caused Nick Cannon; Carey’s husband to reply that it was not a beef with Eminem. He said, “She is Mariah Carey, my wife is not beefing, she is a vegetarian”. Lot of people wonder why Cannon is having so much to say…its his territory i guess he has to tend it.

Rumors that R.Kelly’s house was searched by the police looking for a 17year old girl have been quashed by the singer’s publicist. Kelly was on tour in Africa when the incident was rumored to have taken place. Once a thief, always a suspect? Enh?

A 50 year old man disrobed and refused to get his clothes back on on a flight despite the pleas of flight attendants. law enforcement on the flight had to subdue and restrain him before an emergency landing was done to get him off the plane.

On PROVERBS LANE, it has to be said in a language other than English then translated by you-the caller; as usual we had a lot of funny wisdom coming off the callers but my picks from today's rich repertoire are:

"mistakes are like a hill, you climb your own to see other people's own"

"if you look down properly, you can see the tip of your nose"

"any woman that wants to deliver by September, should have been pregnant by January "

The crowning glory of every reflective Thursday is SING YOUR STORY where we take a chill pill and share intricate personal details with the world and try to get as much strength as possible from the experience of singing it.

Jennifer Hudson...in the House

AREAAAAAAAA!! On celebrity shout-out, you either celebrated your own: mother, husband, kid, etc, we own: AREA MAMA or our own: Michael Jackson. All in all it was a blast! Shout-out to all our kids who call on their way to school in buses and cars with phones belonging to teachers, parents or guardians doing the group or tag-team call-ins, you are our celebrity.
The cold morning will give way to a warm afternoon with scattered thunderstorms in some parts of Lagos; the maximum temperature will be 31 degree Celsius while the minimum temperature and overnight low will be 23 degree Celsius. The sun rose at 6:35am and will set at 7:05pm.

On the MEN FREE ZONE, we explored: single girls getting on the nerve of married girls and girls-in-relationships irking single girls…this their segment could have been done with the contributors physically there, cat fights? You bet. There was so much emotion on play here…

Single ladies said they are pissed at the way married friends don’t have a life anymore, they have to take permission before they go anywhere at the end they may not show up. When they even show up, they are not so free so killing the fun. One ‘texter’ said girls in relationships are evil because they flaunt their relationships mentioning their boyfriends in every sentence. They say girls in relationships feel like they are wiser but they are foolish. Foolish?

Married girls or girls in relationship say that they single girls are too free and live their lives aimlessly always flaunting their freedom in their faces making them feel like marriage is a prison.

Some married women though said they miss their freedom because their husbands don’t approve of the jiving. Single girls of course also want to find their dream guy too.

I don’t even know what to say about this back and forth issue, but I think what you want is what you get. We are made to adapt to situations or adapt the situation to suit ourselves through the choices we make. So have fun whatever group you find yourself. Lets hear you take, i have a feeling the beef is not yet ended.

Excerpts from TOP 9 MOMENTS...
Michael Jackson’s family has announced that there would be a public viewing of his body at his NEVERLAND ranch before a vigil that would herald his funeral on Sunday.

Gospel music legend/superstar Andrea Crouch and his sister are reported to have met with Michael Jackson a few days before his death and discussed with him on how he could make his music more spiritual, since he asked them why people’s hands went up when they sang.
