UNDAREYTED CELEBRITY-COS HE’S HOT AND YOU’RE NOT!!!

Today’s AREA! was fun, congratulations to all the celebrities in the house. We had Darey or Dare or Undareyted, whatever you want to call him, in the house today! And we could feel the heat level literally rise, some ladies called in and honestly, I’m not making this up, we could “hear” the blush over the phone.LWKM. I mean one or two people called and then just became speechless at the sound of dare’s voice.lol. I mean it was sooo funny, but we can’t deny it, Dare is HOOOOOOT like fire, I mean his voice alone, oh lordy! he’s now a hunk again! Father!
Dare finally deciphered 9ice’s proverb in his song “style na style”, the one where he said, “shàkátá pàrámò ń sí ńtó”, before telling you the meaning, let me say that I am a very Yoruba girl, I’ve been speaking Yoruba, in fact even before I was born :), and not Lagos Yoruba o, conc one, and sincerely I have absolutely no idea what this proverb means, I mean no idea at all, if somebody had asked me, I’d have said it wasn’t Yoruba, really. Anyway, Dare said it means, you cannot spit with a tush face, you know, your face will go through some contortions. It was really nice having Dare in the studio today. Thanks Darey

MR NOBODY: OLOHUN MAJE!!!

AREAAAAAA! today was gbaski as usual, lotsa peoples calling us from lotsa areaz. On PUBLIC FORUM today, we were discussing what gets us through the day, naturally, we had different opinions, someone said you just have to “endure” the day, that made me think, why should I endure, when I can enjoy, I hope that person learns to start enjoying more rather than enduring, someone else said the fact that he knows that he will be the worlds greatest keeps him going, hmmh, I like that. Another caller said faith in God and a lady said what gets her going through the day is the opportunity to prove to all evil-wishers and detractors that she can do better and she can be greater than they all think. Me! Hmmh, okay, when I was in school, it was the thought of the money my mother was paying that kept me going so many times that I should have just given up.lol, cos I went to a private school and mehn it ain’t easy and upon all, I now went & read a very boring, very demanding course, anyways “Weee Thank the Looord”. A caller also said that the Word of God gets him through the day, I really like that. There was a lot of alternative music today as it has been recently, and I am totally enjoying it, I mean I am absolutely relishing the songs.lol

THE HOW-TO SHOW
My favourite part of Tuesdays, the how to show today enlightened us on how to be a nobody in your profession, isn’t that just great?
• Don’t mix with your colleagues o, don’t talk to them, don’t tell them anything
• Stay rigid, stick to the same way you used to run things when you went to school
• Cast away any material that is supposed to improve you like an abomination. Fílè! don’t touch it
• Don’t believe in mentorship
• Rain abuses on anyone that tries to correct you
• Engage in a full off-your-cloth showdown with anyone that dares to criticize you
• Make enemies in the industry, sabotage all their efforts at progress and let the whole world know that you did it
• The moment you get a little hint of your success, take a long holiday without telling anyone in the office

USHERING IN AUGUST WITH VIM!!!

Our first AREAAAA! show in August was naturally very energetic, with all our callers and texters with their very creative ways of shouting AREA! sometimes I just start laughing all by myself at some of these thunderous bellows, who says Nigerians are not innovative. We are jare.

On MEMORY LANE we were talking about Cars, you know, listeners were expected to call in and text in and tell us some experiences they have had with cars, maybe there’s a particular car in the family that has even been named (lol). Edoyak came up with a pretty remarkable experience; he said there was a car that he and his brothers used to learn to drive, they named it Baba Legba, and when in his dad’s will, he said they should take care of the car because it had been a faithful servant, I mean, it was in the will?! lol, a 19 year old texter, Tokunbo says his dad has a car that he bought in 1985, and he gets ticked off because his dad always reminds him that the car is older than him, lol, I can relate to that jare, my dad used to have this old Toyota Corolla that he had even before he met my mum, anytime we entered that car ehn, you just have to package yourself well, because if you even mistakenly fart in the car (lol) you are in deep muck. (LWKM) we also had a lot of other experiences, mostly humorous. I remember some time ago I took a random sample of the people around me and discovered that most people, at least 80% (ok I don’t really remember the exact figure, I just plucked it out of the air.lol, but I’m sure its close) had used Volkswagen Beetle aka Ijapa, yerinbeto etc at one point or the other in their families.

HASTA LA VISTA JULY!-I FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL GOOD!!!!!!!!

Friday, 31st July, 2009 felt really good with SHOUT-OUTS (literally), which came on after AREAAAAA! some people almost shouted down the studio, some x-men siren kinda voices,lol. There were a lot of shout-outs to a lot of people, you know, family especially mothers and spouses , boyfriends and girlfriends and so on and so forth. Then we had the WEEKEND REVIEW, most of our callers had one event or the other to go to, birthdays, weddings etcetera. Edoyak was one of those with a really full weekend with a meeting, his aunties birthday bash, games and airport runs, Cynthia from shagamu said this weekend is her friends birthday, so they’re headed to a karaoke bar... I wonder if theres a karaoke bar in shagamu... just wondering sha, then Area Mama herself told us of her Girlfriends night out today at a karaoke bar, seems everybody is having fun this weekend, shan’t I find somewhere to go now, ehn?

TOP 9 MOMENTS WITH ARAMYDE
• The Boko Haram leader, has been captured in Maiduguri. Let somebody shout Halleluyah, finally, the bloodshed will stop.
• Contrary to a rumour going round, it has been reported that LASU will not commence exams on Monday, 2nd August, the ASUU chairman, LASU, says the strike continues until there is a different directive from the National Executive council, ASUU in Abuja.
• A flaw has been discovered in the Apple iPhone that makes it vulnerable to attacks by hackers. (or hockers, like my Russia-trained lecturer calls it, maybe there’s no “a” in Russian.lol)
• MJ’s mum, Katherine, gets custody of his three kids and Debbie Rowe wants joint custody of her children, though the children reportedly didn’t know she was their mother (aren’t you tired of hearing about this people yet, I mean MJ is dead! Can we just sort things out and get it all over with already!)
• Aramyde’s quote today was quite funny, I guess to balance the serious ones we normally have; “Where there’s a will, there are 500 relatives”
